My maid speaks Hindi as well as I can speak Telugu. That means most of our communication consists of nodding heads, big loopy smiles and lots of pointing and arm waving. When I left Hyderabad, I explained that I'd be back in the vicinity of the 15th. It's been two days now, and I've been waiting for her to magically materialise - and it's only more dust that seems to be coming home. I hope she'd figured it was date=15th and not month=15th. Meanwhile, a poor friend who's coming in from Bangalore tomorrow will have to wade through the insides of my house - which look like the aftermath of an explosion! A messy one at that..

Highpoint of coming back is my cable operator is finally showing AXN, MTV, Channel V, HBO, Star World, Star Movies and the works! Funny thing to be excited over - but when you've been deprived of these channels for over five months - it's quite a treat to get them back! I've never understood the business model my cable operator used though. Ever since he stopped providing these channels - most households in my complex stopped paying him. They couldn't switch because there aren't alternate providers here - but the lack of paying customers didn't seem to overly concern him - he didn't try and convince people to pay - or turn back on the channels - until now! I guess, alls well that ends well...
