Liquids makes it easy to drink way more than is good for one's health. Friday night, four people, five digit bill, and shattered skulls today morning. Enough said.
P.S. Unfortunate twist involved picking up a friend - who brought along one of his friends - on the way back home. My pal will have an interesting time convincing his cute little friend that not all his friends are AA escapees!

so where do YOU work?
An uh oh kind of story...
Had a hearty dinner at Angeethi! It's the best north Indian food in Hyderabad, outside of Peshawari (more of frontier cuisine). The rustic dhaba look is nicely complemented by an interesting crowd almost every evening of the week, and the menu comes replete with classifieds for nice Punjabi brides and grooms .
We had some hiliarious moments introducing our visitors to kulfi faluda - described to them as "Indian ice cream" laced with "sweet spaggheti"! I'm not sure our friendly all-natural carcinogen - paan, went down as well though!

why not to buy cars made on Monday and Friday :
I'm re-reading an ancient copy of Wheels. So much for a book that's sold a 150 million copies... it seems to be out of print now!
Arthur Hailey was one of my favourite authors growing up because of the "insider view" you came away with after reading one of his books. If you read Hotel, (you thought) you knew all about what happened inside a real one. If you read Strong Medicine, you came away with an insiders understanding of how drug companies create and improve their products and the challenges that go into being a drug company! His research and descriptions are outstanding, and his works show many realities of human nature and business.

making local SUV's blush :
Honda's new CR-V is one of the "funnest" vehicles our taxi company sends us!
After the long ride from Aalankrita, I'm back at work; my phone's is back after fixing; and I've sort of caught up with email. Its beginning to be a good day even if its halfway over :)

smoke signals from the edge of civilisation :
Away from work - well - office on Monday and Tuesday; working sessions at Aalankrita - a nice "ethnic getaway" on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
My landline's been down for a month (I've been lazy!) and now my cell phone conked off over the weekend :(. I shall spend the next two days incommunicado at Aalankrita, and hope the folks at home can decipher the smoke signals I'll be sending their way...

millie is a terrible girl...
She's dragged in yet another little mouse! Unfortunately, she insists on bringing them back to my bedroom - and I end up having to chase both Millie and her little friends out!
Sat through some of the videos on how everyday things are made. Certainly interesting, and I can now speak with authority on why plastic bottles have seams!
Finally went cycling! Its been a while and I was out of breath within the first five minutes...
Someone used the word precis in a conversation... it's been a while since I've heard that word! It used to be fun writing 100 word essays in school...

surprisingly simple yet deceptively complex :
Just watched Rashomon... a japanese movie from the early fifties. Its a fascinating movie - that uses a very different narrative style to explore how subjective "truth" is.
Moving to Hyderabad has dramatically reduced how many movies I watch! Buying DVD's here mean ordering them off Amazon; sometimes even getting a CD means going to Indiatimes...
I'm looking forward to The Matrix Revolutions! Its launching globally (yes, that includes Hyderabad!) - on the 5th of November.
And yes!! I've finally given in and started a blog :)
